We recently spent some time in St. Croix, not only soaking up the sun, but also taking in as much local culture as possible… literally.
There aren’t enough days on the calendar to sample food from every restaurant in St. Croix but boy did we try! With so many great options to choose from we couldn’t realistically try them all. So we decided to revisit a few favorites and explore a few new places along the way.
El Flamboyant
I make a special visit to El Flamboyant whenever I’m in St. Croix. This restaurant is located in the more southern part of the island that does not have that turquoise view you’re looking for but the food makes up for the scenery in every way! El Flamboyant offers a fresh fusion of tradition Crucian and Puerto Rican dishes. I love this spot for their casual atmosphere, laid back island vibe, and Crucian classics like the Conch and Butter Sauce and the Stewed Chicken (pictured)! Yum! You know when the local Crucians order it, it’s damn good!
La Reine Chicken Shack
When I tell you the food here at La Reine Chicken Shack is even more delicious than it looks in the pictures… you’re going to have to try it yourself to believe it. Everything here is A-MA-ZING! The chicken is juicy and flavorful and they have the best seasoned rice and johnny cake on the island – hands down! La Reine Chicken Shack is definitely Crucial! Slide on over to the bar for a Rum Punch while you wait for your food. You will not be disappointed.
